Cabinet baskets are used to store kitchen utensils for daily cooking. Most cabinet baskets are hardware products. According to different materials, they can be classified into iron chrome – plated baskets, stainless – steel baskets, aluminum – alloy baskets, etc. According to their uses, they can be divided into dish baskets, spice baskets, corner baskets, pot baskets, tall and deep baskets, monster baskets, etc.
Cabinet Basket Installation Dimensions
It seems that many users are confused about the dimensions of cabinet baskets such as 300 – cabinet, 600 – cabinet, and 900 – cabinet. Let’s take the 600 – cabinet to explain this dimension.
A 600 – cabinet means that the outer diameter of the side panels on the left and right sides of the cabinet where the basket is installed is 600mm. Generally, the thickness of each side panel is 18mm, and since there are two side panels, the inner diameter is 564mm. The guide rails are installed on the side of the basket and then fixed to the cabinet side panels. The thickness of the guide rails is 70mm (this 70mm includes the guide rails on both sides of the basket). Thus, the width of the basket should be 494mm. During production, the basket is usually made to be 490mm, and the remaining 4mm can be adjusted through the guide rails during installation.
So, many merchants mark the basket size as 490. The corresponding sizes of other baskets are 590, 610, 650, 690, 790. The width of the cabinet must be made according to these dimensions, otherwise, it will be difficult to buy a suitable basket. Among them, 490, 610, and 690 are the most commonly used. Of course, now many baskets are equipped with damping guide rails, and the thickness of the guide rails is different. To unify this standard, corresponding adjustments have also been made in the production of the baskets.
Therefore, when purchasing: If the cabinet has been made, measure the cabinet body or the inner diameter, and you can figure out what size of basket to buy. If the cabinet is made into a non – standard size, only shimming can be done. For spice baskets, 300 – cabinet, 350 – cabinet, and 400 – cabinet are the most commonly used, and the corresponding basket sizes are 230, 300, and 350. Because the guide rails of spice baskets are installed under the basket, the requirement for the width of the cabinet is not very high. As long as it can be placed in the cabinet, it can be installed. However, some cabinets are designed to be door – opening type. When purchasing, the position of the hinge must be taken into consideration.
Cabinet Basket Installation Steps
Step 1: Select the appropriate drill bit
Generally, the manufacturer does not install the cabinet basket on – site. Therefore, the renovator needs to learn to install it by themselves. The first step in installing the cabinet basket is to select an appropriate drill bit. Since screws need to be fixed, a screw hole is required. Different cabinet materials and screw sizes require different drill bits. If the material of your cabinet is relatively hard, it is not recommended to choose a cheap glass drill bit. Instead, a durable marble drill bit should be selected. Moreover, the renovator should drill a screw hole of an appropriate size on both the cabinet and the wall according to the size of the screws of the cabinet basket.
Step 2: Install the screws
After creating appropriate drill holes in the right positions, it is time to install the screws. For the installation of the cabinet basket, some expansion plugs are also needed, so as to ensure that the screws are fixed more firmly and durably. Of course, a part of the expansion plug should be left outside, which is convenient for placing the basket.
Step 3: Match the guide rails
The installation of the basket starts from the installation of the basket rails. First, match the size of the basket rails. After the basket rails are installed, the basket can be installed.
Cabinet Basket Installation Tips
The installation of the cabinet basket is not much different from the installation of the cabinet. Just install the slide rails and then install the basket. Here, pay attention to the horizontality of the basket. The two sides should not be at different heights.
When installing drawers and dish – cabinet baskets, try to install them as low as possible. This can hold more things and make full use of the space. And the handle should be installed in the middle as much as possible. If the handle is installed too high, it will be difficult to exert force when pulling. When installing the panel of the dish – cabinet basket, it is better to use small expansion plugs to block it, because the basket and the panel bear force in the front – back direction. Over time, the screws are likely to be pulled out.
